AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF THEO PHILIP
EMCEE, DANCER, CHOREOGRAPHER
& GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR
Born and raised in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Island, I developed a love for music and dancing at a very early age. By the age of thirteen my family and I relocated to the borough of the Bronx, New York. Due to my strong love for music I soon became influenced to put my many years of Martial Arts training and inspirations from entertainers like Michael Jackson and James Brown to music and started to develop my own unique style of dancing which today I like to refer to as FUSION FUNK.
Today I have acquired a vast knowledge of dance movements from the Classical to Latin, Ballroom and many years of Hip Hop and the Break-Dance period now referred to as Pop N Lock. My performance experiences ranges from your small neighborhood talent show to off Broadway plays and Recording artist performances and videos. My experience as a dance instructor for my “Dance It Off” group fitness class now includes a combination of fitness centers in the tri-state area i.e.; Court Sports in Elmsford, NY; Equinox of Darien, CT / Scarsdale, NY; Body Fit Studios in Scarsdale, NY also. Educational facilities where my Hip Hop and Pop N Lock classes are very popular include: The Pier Van Cortland Middle School, Croton On The Hudson, NY; Claremont Middle School and AMD Junior High School, Ossining, NY; The Hackley School, Tarrytown, NY; Convent Of The Sacred Heart High School, Greenwich, CT; and most Recently added, City Dance Center, White Plains, NY.
I think I found my true calling one-day while working as a dancer and someone put a microphone in my hands. Now not only do I love teaching the art of movement, I am one of the tri-states most requested entertainers in the mobile DJ Entertainment industry. I am the leading emcee for the prestigious entertainment and productions agency in New York City known as “Tom Kaufman Productions. Now I’m known as “MC Theo”, or “Dr. T”, or just “Theo the Entertainer”. My current work as the emcee host for night clubs “Aura”, “The Thirsty Turtle” and “Black Bear” located in White Plains, NY has been an enjoyable and fulfilling experience that just nearly satisfies my thirst for the spotlight.
I am on the pursuit of furthering my career as an emcee by becoming a
“VJ” (video jockey) television game, talk show or even sporting events host. Much like Ryan Seacrest, Carson Daily, or Michael Buffer. I have a great flair for entertaining large groups in a live setting.
